  • Installing Water Softener

My home has a whole house water filter. Should the water be routed through the filter before it goes to the softener or should the water go to the softener first then the filter?
    Appreciate any replies

Whole house filters from big box store, the ones that are 10" X about 3" in my opinion are a Hugh joke. They do nothing but plug up, making you have to buy more cartridges. If your installing a softener, it will act as a filter in some ways. Besides, there shouldn't be anything in your water that you would need a filter for.

Whole house water filters do more to fatten the bottom line of those who make and sell them than anything else....
