These neat '-Bite' connectors are sweet! Have a question on the inserts. Already installed as purchased in Shark consumer installed for Gator. The inserts are needed for pex, but what about pvc or copper? For copper they just wallow around. Should the plastic inserts NOT be used with copper? It is easy to yank them out. It appears they come together in a tee fitting enough to restrict water flow.

NO they are not required for copper, while the fitting will still work it will hinder water flow.
They are made to stop the PEX from compressing under pressure and changing shape to perhaps oval and thus leaking, basically they hold the softer PEX tube stay round.
I love those fitting too, while I still like copper and soldered joints I find the "bites" work very well and are very quick. Plus they are rated to be installed in concealed locations.Little about a lot and a lot about a little.
Every day is a learning day.
