    Flushing problems

The toilet flushes fine, i.e. the tank empties, and the water refills with no problem. The problem is with the bowl. Sometimes the water comes out the rim of the bowl as it should, but other times nothing comes from the rim, but bubbles up from the drainage area in the bowl. This varies back in forth. It will flush correctly a few times, and then not. I have taken the tank off and there is no blockage, so I am at a loss as to what the problem could be. Any ideas?

    Thank you

It sounds like the rim holes are clogged and need to be cleaned out. Here's a link that'll explain how to do this.

i have a similar problem...when i flush with only water in the bowl the bowl doesn't empty completely...the water just swishes around the bowl and a bit of water goes down...but where there is a lot of TP in there or other solids (hehehe) usually the bowl empties and flushes fine...

does this sound familiar to anyone?

      Thanks,

oh and by the way the rim holes are not blocked...the water comes out fast and the water in the whole bowl swirls...it just doesn't empty...

        Thanks,

VR6 How old is this toilet??? do you have hard water there.I have found that on hard water after a time the trap in the bowl will get smaller and not flush like it should . pull the bowl and look up in the trap there you can clean it out with a screw driver or if you have windows there. Put some muractic acid in the bowl and let it cook out .

My mistakes dont define me they inform me.

i'm not sure how old the toilet is...it came with the house and i'm sure it's not the same age as the house (~75 y.o.)...all i know is that it's not a new toilet...

the funny thing is when it has solids in the toilet it seems to fully flush more often then when it has just liquid in there...when it's just liquid in the bowl it never fully flushes...

            Thanks,
