How do you remove the strainer from a sink popup assembly

i have a hasgrohe solaris i think, and i am replacing the popup assembly.

pretty straight forward right?

i cant get the strainer sparated from the popup tube..

any ideas?

how do you hold the strainer to screw it off?

In this video, he says what i was looking for.....you use a hack saw to cut the tube away from the strainer-ring assembly.

RIGID makes an internal pipe wrench specifically to insert into the popup that grips internally and allows you to turn it while gripping the tailpiece, it has steps to accommodate different sizes, but it is more expensive than a new popup assembly so unless you are a professional plumber it is not worth the expense.
