  • sounds coming from the pipe

When I take a shower (or when I am runnung the taps in the bath tub) I sometimes hear this sound that is a high pitched sound (just like a tea kettle) and it gets louder and louder and then suddenly stops. It happens at least once during my shower. Why does it do this, and what can I do about it?
    Thanks.

That type of noise is the end result of an increased velocity of flow.

It is most often caused by a a loose bib washer or bit of debris partially clogging the metering part of the shower mixer.

To correct the problem you will have to turn the water off, either at zone valves or at the water main, remove the stems or cartridge and clean the debris out or tighen the washers.
