Hear Running Water In Pipes

I bought a newly built house at a development. Whenever we flush the toilet upstairs, a few moments later, we hear the water running through the pipes downstairs. Loudly.

Is there a way to fix this without tearing up my walls?

Please help.

The water you hear running after the flush is obviously the water refilling the toilet tank.
Does the noise only occur when the toilet is refilling or can you hear it when running water in the shower and sink as well?

Noisy water lines is usually a result of an undersized pipe or a restriction in the line that causes increased velocity of flow.

If the noise is confined solely to the toilet tank refill first check the toilet tank supply line shutoff valve to make sure it is open all the way.

Check the supply line size. It should be 3/8 inch tubing. If is happens to be a 1/4 inch line that would substantially increase velocity, which in turn decreases pressure and can cause internal vibration in some toilet fill valves.

If the valve is wide open and the supply line is correct, turn the water supply valve off and dissassemble the valve to see if their is debris in the valve.
