My son was telling me about a new product that replaces the soldering of copper. They still need to be cleaned, but it eliminates the heat, flux and solder. I can't find anything on HGTV where he says it was shown. Anybody have experience with this?

There are numerous pastes and epoxies that will adhere to copper for craft projects and such, but, none are approved for use on plumbing systems.
The plumbing codes are very specific in regards to materials and methods for joining copper pipe.
All joints in concealed locations must be made by means of lead free solder except, when copper pipe is run under a slab all fittings are to be hardened bronze fittings and all joints are to be silver brazed.
Mechanical joints (Threaded joints or compression fittings) may be used in non-concealed locations.
