Where is the main water supply valve usually found

I'm not sure where to look for it. Anybody have any tips on where I should look for it? Thanks

It is usually found just inside the wall or floor were the water comes into the house.Trace out you waterlines near your hot water heater or something like that and it might be easy for you to find it.
Also I have seen shutoff valves outside houses just inside a water meter if its an emergency inside the house or just outside it..Hope it helps
