disposal water on balcony

Hello i live in a 1st floor condo and my dishwasher garbage disposal water is coming up thru the bricks on my balcony.the bricks are loose so i pulled some of them up to find some disposal remnants underneath.Where could this blockage be? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

The Post is a bit confusing because it says this is a 1st floor condo and the problem is on a balcony, which means an outdoor evelavated deck. Normally an elevated deck would not be covered with brick, especially loose brick which would could potentially be a trip hazard, causing someone to fall over a railing.

I am guessing that what you mean is a brick deck or patio area at ground level extending out from the condo.

You state that the dishwasher/garbage disposal water is coming up through the brick, but there is no mention of toilet tissue remnants so for the moment I will rule out a problem with the main drain. I can then think of one other possibility.

Probably the kitchen is located immediately inside the structure from this brick deck area and the kitchen drains feed into a branch drain from the house main drain.

The code requires a cleanout on the upstream end of each drain. Normally a toilet is set on the end of a line and it serves as the upper end cleanout. (toilets are required to be on the end of a line).

In this case I suspect the branch line is comming across the house under slab, and has the kitchen and perhaps the laundry tieing into this line at an angle. If that is the case, there is no toilet or fixture with a removable trap that would serve as a cleanout, so it requires a separate cleanout. In some instances on slab construction when such a cleanout is required the line is extended to the outside wall of the structure where the cleanout is placed in the footer wall just below the floor slab. If there is to be a finished slab exteding outward, the line is then run an additional 3 ft outside the footer wall and turned upward with a cleanout cap at or near finished grade level. I suspect there may be a cleanout such as this immediately below the brick where you are seeing the water, and the cleanout cap may be loose or damaged allowing some of the water to rise up through that cap. To confirm my suspicion you would have to dig down a bit in the area where you see the water. If it is a cleanout it should not be more than about a foot at the most below finished grade.

The other possiblility is that there is a break in an underground waste line directly below the point where the water is rising.

Yes you are right it is a brick covered patio.loose brick meaning not set in grout so i can easily lift them out.if i understand correctly i should lift out bricks within 3 feet from wall area to find cleanout?thanks very much for this informative answer.i'l post again after checking.
