I am in the process of adding a full bath and I have completed the drain/waste/vent piping and now I am going to run the supply lines.
My question is........
Is it acceptable (structurally) to notch out the ceiling joists for running the copper where I have to go perpendicular to the joists?
It would seem to make running long lengths of pipe easier and joints less prone to leaking, b/c I would have few unions (couplings) than if I drilled holes in the middle of the joists and ran through them. Then I would only be able to run about 16" or so at a time, and would have to solder lots of joints.
This work will not be inspected, so I don't care too much about code requirements.
Thanks,
Jon
