  • toilet installation - Flange is dissolved

Hi All, and Lazy Pup. I posted earlier about installing a new toilet. I pulled off the old wax seals (2) and found out that the flange ring (metal) leading down into the drain is actually rusted and partially dissolved. About a 2 inch section of the ring itself is missing! It is the original one from 1964. One of the 2 mounting bolt holes is basically gone and when I pulled out the other bolt, a large piece of the flange cracked off. I assume I need to get the flange reinstalled, but I can't imagine how this is done since it is a piece of the pipe going under my bathroom and subfloor. Am I talking major dollars to have this corrected professionally? I'm worried that replacing the flange itself is way above my skill level.... [V] Any help is greatly appreciated.

I found a product online from Oatey called a "Twist N Set" replacement flange that looks like it slides down into my current broken flange. It comes in both pvc and cast iron. I think this will work but if anyone doesn't think so, let me know. Thanks!
