  • Hot Water Heater

Hi All. We just has a new gas furnace and electric air conditioner installed by pros yesterday. The last component I need to replace is our 1985 gas water heater. I was thinking about doing this myself, and figure it would be fairly easy if it were electric, but I'm a little wary of gas and gas connections and am wondering if I should have a professional do this. The in and out water connections I am confident I can do; I do a lot of soldering around the house. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A lot of house insurers demand that gas installation requires a gas fitter's license, therefore I would assume a pro is necessary. Codes change year to year, some places want hard piped, others a double walled flex would do. Some require a drip leg, others don't.
