  • pulsing water, banging pipes

Recently, while running the water and waiting for the temperature to change before turning on the diverter to send the water to the showerhead in the bath, the water will sometimes rapidly pulse and the pipes loudly bang in sync with the pulsations. The pulsations and the banging stop with just a small adjustment of the handles.

About 6 months ago I replaced all the stems (3 handle shower) to stop a leak and it worked fine until last week.

    What's going on?

    Thank you
    Dan

sounds like a pressure problem. the hot water comes up and expands the internals of the valve then just cools to the point where flow is restricted, then expands enough to start the scenario all over again. opening the valves just enough stops the "music"
