  • Leaking Toilet

I need some expert advice... I just built a second bathroom. New subflooring, new Pergo, new closet flange and new PVC septic lines. I got a toilet from my brother-in-law that had gotten new. I went to set the toilet and it went in without a hitch - flushed, filled and no initial problem. After about 30 minutes, I noticed "clean" water seeping from between the base of the bowl and the floor; not a lot, but enough to need to address right away. I then pulled the toilet and inspected the horn for cracks - none that I could see, and the wax seal appeared to be seated correctly. I then replace the seal and reset the toilet. Same problem. Tonight I noticed no leaks between the tank and the bowl and no leaks from the water line, and water level good in the tank, but still have water collecting between the base of the bowl and the floor. I pulled the toilet a third time and inspected the closet flange - no obvious issues. I set the toilet outside on the cement and filled the bowl. Over the past hour it has continued to drop in level well below where it should be and the cement around the base of the bowl is still wet. I think that means that I have a crack in the bowl somewhere...? Any suggestions? Thanks very much!

Sadly your diagnosis is correct. There is no possible way a toilet bowl can leak unless there is a crack in the bowl.

Just as a follow up... I replaced the bowl and it works like a charm. Thanks!
