We have a 2 year old, 80 gallon gas water heater. Problem is that the second person taking a shower ends up with luke warm water. I have checked the pipes and they are installed correctly, the temp is set to "C" (which is one notch below "Very Hot") and I have the pipes and tank insulated. I have also checked the pressure relief valve for any leaks. It appears to cycle as a normal heater should, but just can't keep up with the demand, which in our case is very small.

Hi, and welcome to the forum....Check for a broken "Dip Tube".This tube lets the incoming water enter at the bottom and forces the heated water up. If the tube don't go down to near the tank bottom, then the incoming water(cold) is entering high and mixing with the hot, thus prematurely cooling it. Hube

check and if you have 2 temp gauges and that they are set at the same setting. your heater should be set at B or C and if you have 2 gauges they should be set at the same temp.TAZ
