  • Dissimilar metal....

Okay, it's on the boat, but still plumbing related. The aluminum fresh water tank had a plastic barb fitting for the hose connection. I'm reshaping the pump and hose routings. I'd like to go something other than the gray plastic barb and was thinking of using brass for this. Is there a problem with the aluminum deteriorating due to the brass? Should I revert back to the gray plastic 3/4" barb fitting?

if you can get a stainless barbed fitting it would be better. stainless doesn't react to aluminum. use two "o" rings to seal the fitting into the tank.

I would only use plastic or, the stainless steel suggested by Hay Zee...

Brass will make things get ugly...
I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
      Now I can Plumb!
