What are some of the problems associated with hooking Pvc pipe to exsisting cast drain system? I think it looks quite easy but am wondering if there are any hints or dont do's? also how do you make a good seal between the pvc and cast?
    thanks

I have done this with rubber sleeves many times and have not had any problems as of yet. In fact, my main has a PVC patch in so I hope not to have any problems. I have not patched in a vertical section and I would think there might be some things to consider.

A hint is to leave a long enough PVC nipple, before any fitting, to slide the entire coupler onto. When the other pipe is lined up, you can slide the coupler onto the other pipe joining them.

Have a bucket underneath just in case there is anything in the line.

Depending on the application the rubber sleves work wonders.
I also have found a great product made by "Genova" called "Plastic Lead" which works like a putty and gets VERY hard and forms an awesome seal.
