  • Washing Machine valves??

Every 3 or 4 years I shut of the water to the washing machine and replace the hoses out of caution.. This year was no exception HOWEVER the 2 valves (hot and cold 1/4 turn) refuse to move to off position... I am reluctant to put to much pressure on them in fear of developing a leak or pipe break (cpvc?) behind the wall. Any suggestions? Photo shows type of valves I am dealing with..

    Try these steps:
    1. Apply Penetrating Oil: Use WD-40 on the valve stems and wait 15-20 minutes.
    2. Use Gentle Force: Turn the valves gently with pliers or a wrench, applying steady pressure.
    3. Tap Lightly: Lightly tap the valve handles with a rubber mallet.
    4. Heat Application: Use a hairdryer to heat the valve body for a few minutes.
If these methods don’t work, it’s best to call a professional plumber to avoid damaging the pipes.
