  • Trim for Stairs?

I have carpeted stairs going down to my basement. I had to add mud to many spots on the walls when I tore off the wood paneling. Because of this there are many spots where the mud and carpet don't meet nicely. Is there any type of trim that I can put on both sides of my stairs that will finish off the carpet and walls?

I was thinking about cutting large pieces like below...

However that seems like it would be hard to fit properly. Any ideas?

is your staircase like the one that is pictured? therefore the out board and inboard stringers are visible.

        step mouldings

any wide moldings would work, even those very detailed moldings - you'll just have to use a coping saw around the bullnose of the treads. the rest, internal and external nineties are a standard 90 degree miter cuts. you may need to touch sand the angles to make the nineties come out right unless your steps and risers are perfectly horizontal and plumb.
