Armchair vinyl tear

You can see in the enclosed picture a rather large hole in the arm of this chair. Is a repair as large as this and not on a flat surface doable? Which kit should I use?

there is a vinyl repair kit available from jc whitney automotive supply for about $45.00 you may need to order more of a certain color liquid vinyl for your repair. there is one user rating on the jc site.
