  • How to fix hairline cracks permanently?

    Hey everyone,

What’s the best way to fix hairline cracks in interior walls so they don’t keep coming back? Are flexible fillers or mesh tapes more effective for long-term results?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hey there,
For hairline cracks, the best long-term fix usually combines both good prep and the right materials. Flexible fillers work well if the crack is very fine and the movement is minimal. Just make sure the surface is clean and the filler is paintable.

But if the crack tends to reappear or is in an area with a lot of movement (like near doors or ceilings), using mesh tape with joint compound gives a stronger, more reinforced repair. It helps bridge the gap and reduces the chance of the crack coming back.

Either way, it’s a good idea to finish with a quality primer before repainting to seal everything in.

Is there a specific way to apply the joint compound over the tape to prevent future cracking?
