  • Moisture near furnace

A few weeks back we started getting a mold smell in the furnace/laundry room. I couldn't see anything, so I started checking with a moisture meter.

It measures about 17% here and goes up to 25% at the bottom.

    25% down here

Zero moisture here, though, which seems odd? 90 degrees to wall that shows moisture.

I took off the panel above the furnace. No sigh of leaks and meter reads 0 on all drywall inside (of course it's hot in there, so if there was moisture it would go away quickly)

I guess it must be coming from above?

Laundry room?, check the dryer vent is not leaking, and is clean, no lint build up for starters, lot of moisture is put out by a dryer. The furnace vent puts out heat and humidity, so it might not "dry" itself off like you think it would, as in steam.
