  • Roman shades

We are in the processing of updating a house which was built in the 70's. We have brand new thermal pane windows, and we would like Roman shades for the window treatment. (To save our big screen from glare.)

The inside depth of our windows is only 1", and the Roman shades I have found at Home Depot and Lowes require a 2" depth. Any help?? Any suggestions?? Thanks!

WE have the same problem at my house. We have 2" blinds and had to attach them to the trim instead of placing them inside. Could you do that? I didn't know what else to do.

    Anyone else?

I realize this is an old posting, but who knows? I made my roman shades with a pattern from the fabric store. Can't remember the line of patterns right now, but it was far cheaper, and I got to pick the color as well. Every window was able to be fit exactly. There was only a one inch area to mount them in, and they look fine-it was just a matter of some additional time. It cost 10 dollars for materials for one shade versus the much higher amount for premade. The thing to be aware of with roman shades is that they will have to be occasionally cleaned and that can be nasty.
