is it possible to remove spilled paint from carpeting without ruining carpet

Nope, not if you kept it moist until you cleaned it. Thats the important thing, keeping it wet until you can get to it. Once it dries it's almost impossible to get out. We dropped about 1/2 gallon of white paint on a medium tan carpeting, and immedietely ran out and rented one of those machines to clean your floors with and used that. The suction those machines have really worked on the paint and you can't tell anything was spilled. So, when was the spill?
