We have an all white painted brick (never red) fireplace
that goes from floor to ceiling, we want it to stand out and we don't know if we should sponge it or paint it, , or what colors to use, hate white and don't want red. Any help would be appreciated.

I would recommend you check out a fireplace brick paint called Brick-Anew. It gives the most realistic brick look I've ever seen - in a light updated color. It comes in an easy DIY kit. You can find them at http://www.brick-anew.com

      Anabellie,
What colors are in the room? With it being all white, you can probably find a color to sponge it with, to make it appear worn, or two toned. Is there a way to determine what is underneath the white? You might be able to wear off some of the white to get a great effect. Do you have a picture you can post of what it looks like now?

      sammyt,
So do you work for brick-a-new? Every post you have ever written here is just a link to their web site. Got any other opinions? Don't you think it is a little too easy to say "here's a product you can spend lots of money on that will solve your problems?" She already has brick, why does she need to spend money to get a "realistic brick look " when she already has one? A $20 can of paint and a sponge is all she'll need to spend to have her fireplace updated!
Or are you just a satisfied brick-a-new customer and singing their praises?

Sammyt looks suspiciously like a Brick-Anew employee. I have been doing research on Brick Anew and all his/her posts look pretty standard.
