We are putting gas logs in our firplace. I want to paint the firplace a light bage cocor. Should I paint the inside of my fireplace also? And do I need to do something special to the fireplace before painting it? Thanks meaginn

I don't think that would be a good idea. Although there are some paints that may hold up, it's really not practical.Comment

Meaginn,
We have had no trouble with our painted fireplace. It has held up well, and caused no problems. It still looks as good as the day we painted it. I agree with mrcaptainbob, though, painting the inside is not a good idea. Even if you can find a paint that will hold up, it probably isn't worth the trouble, and will be discolored if not for the heat but for the soot. Mine looks fine with a light color outside and a dark color inside. There are pics of it somewhere on this site.
Let us know how it goes, and post some pics! Good luck!
