  • repairing plaster walls/chimney

Hi, my husband and i have a rental that has water damage from the old roof, that has since been completely resheathed and shingled, but the plaster is crumbling and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to repair this, that might save us some time and trouble. . . .the rest of the walls are in good shape, so this is just about a 4 x 6 area total that needs to be replastered. My husband is very talented, but plastering is something new and I thought someone out there might have some good tips handy!! Thanks!!

it might be better to use 1/4 or 3/8 inch sheetrock to repair the area. Plaster applications are a real art. use paper tape at the joints with a good sheetrock compound. Feather out the edges to about a foot either side of the joint.
