  • I need to replace the ceiling in the main bathroom

I had a leak in my roof due to the vent not being sealed properly when the roofers installed it. So now I have to fix my roof which has a pretty good size hole in it. And as I am a computer geek by nature and have never done it before, I am kinda at a loss and the task seems quite daunting. Any advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanx

go to home depot or lowes and get a roof vent seal fitting. it has an aluminum plate with a rubber boot in its center and is angled to fit the roof pitch. the boot is engineered so it will tightly slip over the vent. when you get the boot down to the roof surface pick up on the shingles and slide the top part under the shingles. Apply some roofing cement to the underside of the sides of the aluminum and use a couple of roofing nails to hold the flange down. Now apply some compound on top of the nails.

      Ceiling Repair

I assume you mean your bathroom ceiling needs fixing. If it is drywall, do the following:

Cut out a hole that is square. Have the edge of the hole be flush with nearby studs.

Fasten 2x2 nailers on the studs.

Fasten a patch piece of drywall up to the nailers and existing studs.

      Tape and finish the drywall.

      Prime and paint.
