    Tyvex wrap or Not

On a new Garage, is it necessary to wrap the gable ends above the ceiling level with Tyvex? I have all of the garage wrapped except that area. I am out of Tyvex and do not want to buy a roll for a small area. I do have some felt roofing paper left over which I could use. Would that be code and ok?

The entire structure including gables should be wrapped with any additional wrap overlapping the previous.
Code doesn't dictate any specific wrap just that it be a vapor barrier, so you should be right with roofing felt just don't leave it exposed very long it will begin to break down very quickly.
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.

      I think you mean Tyvek.

With some wraps you have up to 12 months but standard Tyvek is only 3.
