  • finishing a cold porch

Wondering if someone might be able to help with suggesting what material would be appropriate to use to finish a cold porch. We have just enclosed what was an overhang on our front door to make it an enclosed, finished porch. However, there is no heat source in the space. What could go on the inside walls to finish. Cultured stone is going on the outside.
    Thanks

Tounge and grove pine would serve you well in an area that is not climate controlled. I would use some type sealer on the T&G to keep it from absorbing as much moisture.

You could use just about any material you want except interior drywall as it will absorb moisture. They do make exterior drywalls that absorb less moisture. i would do a toung and grove or a nice plywood with a clear sealer dedending on the look you are going for. Avoide any products that can't be exposed to moisture as the will still abord moisture even though they are not directly exposed.

If it's enclosed and sealed from the weather then add insulation to between the wall studs paper facing inwards and then use ply (painted or stained), bead board would be another option.

oops post is months old, ah well !
