  • Found these along the foundation; cause for concern?

    Are they ants or termites? I didn't see any mud tunnels and the fact that they're out in the open suggests "not termite" to me, but the area is also sheltered from the elements and 99% of the time dark.

    These look more like ants than termites. The narrow waist between the body segments is a good giveaway since termites don't have that kind of shape. Their antennae also seem to be bent, which is typical for ants. Since they’re out in the open with no mud tunnels around, that also suggests they’re ants. It’s not unusual to see winged ants show up in big numbers, especially in dark, quiet spots.
