  • Removing Old Mortar

    Hello,
I am looking for some advice on the best way to remove some 40 year old mortar from my back porch. It was part of a brick wall that was removed a long time ago. I have tried a metal scraper and a wire wheel drill attachment but neither really worked. I was thinking about purchasing an angle grinder (with masonry wheel) or an oscillating multi tool to help me get this finished. Which of those (or something else) do you think would work best? (photo attached)

    Thanks for the help

A cold chisel and a five lb hammer might be the only way out. if you use a angle grinder, a seven inch diamond wheel may be your cutting tool.

the way I see it from the photo its just bonded to the granite face. a cold chisel and a hammer should be able to chip it off. if you create a small void between the concrete and the granite wedge a chisel between the crack and whack it!

        concrete slab

depending on how big the cement slab is,you might just want to replace the slab
