please help with water leaking problem from the window down to my basement

i have 2story house. I just got this house for 1 yrs, this house build in 1998, i just find out my basement celing was wet and on the top of that spot will be my living room and have big window 6 by 6 and on the top of that window have another window same size. water leaking does not come to my living room wall, they go straight to basement.

how can i fix the leak, would any one help me for this problem? Thanks you very much

you said that water isn't showing up on the floor or under the first floor window. That indicates that the leak is starting on the second floor and following the studs down to the basement. a typical house construction tactic is called baloon construction and is most logical being that the studs run all the way from the basement to the cap on the second floor. I would look to the bottom of the second floor window for leakage. if this is a bow window then the stoop of the window would be my first choice where the bottom bracing would be.
