    garage door hits motor box

Have Touch N' Go 100 garage opener. When raising door, it runs into the motor box- told may need new part or just adjustment. What is adjustment and can I do myself- just bought new receiver and 2 remotes so money is tight.

check your limit switches. they operate off a lead screw in the motor box.

there is a gear or sprocket in the motor box that operates the chain along your t-bar track or acme thread lead screw that operates the cariage. off the motor is a bevel gear that turns a small lead screw of fine thread that moves a pawl or the limit switch itself and contacts a trip lever that shuts off the motor.

put a bolt in the t-bar

another thing that is common on openers is to put a bolt through the t-bar (rail) of the opener which acts as a safety against the carriage running into the opener head. make sure it is far enough back so the door can open fully. just some additional input.
