Is it the original remote which came with the opener, or is it a "universal" remote which was purchased as a replacement?

If a new remote that is compatible with the dip switches set correct does not work then you have a bad receiver.you can either by a external receiver such as a 365LM and new remote or just replace operator.

That is an old garage door opener. You can purchase a universal remote control with 12 dig and program it to your opener. This will save you a lot of time.
