Liftmaster 1/2 HP Lift problem

Lately when I press the remote the door will start up and stop about 12-15 inches from bottom. Pressing remote again reverses down to close. Press again and it will either do the same or will go up all the way. Checked for obstructions etc but everything looks OK. Stumped.

Closethe door pull the emergency release. Look up and see if you have a brokenspring. If not open and close the door by hand. You should be able to do sowithout major effort. Also the door should stay by itself about half way only supportedby the springs. If fail to stay half way and drop rapidly it is recommended tocall the garage door repair company.
If thedoor open and close by hand nice and smooth, the LiftMaster has 2 dials on theback to adjust the force, only adjust it a couple minutes at the time.
