  • Closing in the garage door opening

I have a garage in my basement however it is on back of the house and I don't really need the garage door anymore. I want to frame in the opening and put a 40 to 42" steel door there instead. I am losing alot of energy thru the old garage door. Can anyone suggest a site/link that might have pics etc on how to hammer drill the concrete foundation so that I can frame it in. I don't want to use concrete or brick. I'm thinking framing would be less labour intensive. There's something about lead plugs?? Not sure what that is...any help would greatly appreciated. I'm new on this forum and look forward to some interesting topics. Thanks

    Use/rent a good hammer-drill.
Pre-drill 5/8" holes through your sil.
Set it in position and drill 1/2" holes in the concrete of sufficient depth to accommodate a 1/2"x4" redhead.
Place them every 6'OC. and within 12" of the sil ends.
