  • how to wire a second button for opener

    looking to add a second garage door opener button, in a different location.... is this easy to do ? i was told to use a doorbell button, but not sure how to wire it in? any suggestions? thanks !!!

    simple! use a two wire thermostat cable. connect one end on the opener and the other on a standard doorbell button - plastic or metal doesn't matter.

      polarity will not be an issue so all you need to do is determine what connections on the operator are to the wall button. If you have a craftstman, chamberlain or liftmaster, use the one and two termainals (red and white), if you have a genie I believe it is also 1 & 2.

      Or simply use a wilre to touch to terminals together and whichever ones send the motor into action are the two that you want. By pressing the doorbell button you are closing the circuit telling the motor to go.
