  • Garage door Sensors?

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage door opener and seem to be having a problem.
The garage door will go all the way down to about a foot from the floor and then go back up?
I have checked the sensors,up/down/force numerous times.
I am wondering if this is maybe a sensor malfunction or faulty Logic board?
What I have noticed is that when the door gets to about a foot from the floor the green sensor gets super bright and flickers and that's when the door goes back up?I have even put my hand in the way when the door is closing and the light never gets super bright it just turns off?

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Nissan214

The door may actually be "jamming" in the opening. Close the door and keep an eye at the top of the 3rd section. (assuming 4 section door) (4th being top section) It may hit the jamb in this area. You may also see marks on the inside of the jamb where it has been hitting. About a foot down from the top of the opening.

If this is the case, a quick fix is to get new hinges for that section. There will be a number on the hinges reffering to there offset. Get new hinges (1) number less than whats there now. If they are #3's (both sides) replace with #2's etc.

Let me know if this helps.

Be sure there is nothing hang from bottom edge of door, like pine straw or a leaf, if it breaks the lite beam it will go back up.
Work the door manually and see if it is binding any where

Have you adjusted the sensitivity control at all? Sometimes as the motor in the opener weakens you need to adjust this else the door will pop back up randomly.
