  • Lift-Master Won't Close

I have a model 1265 Lift-Master opener. Within the last couple weeks the door has been going up and will not close.

Today I raised the door and it won't go down, it just makes a click sound and the yellow light flashes.

While attempting to get it down it did activate and the door opened just a little more.
The yellow light continually flashes 5 times them pauses.

    Logic board?

    Motor?

    Thank you

5 flashes usually means RPM Sensor problem, or motor overheated. UNplug for a while and reset. Make sure the carriage is not stuck agains a bolt on the rail if it is try and remove the bolt. you can loosed and tighten the chain. The RPM sensor is not difficult to replace and not all that expensive. If the opener is over 15 years old, I would recommend replacement with one that has all the modern safety features.

      Ryan,

I contacted Lift Master and spoke to Tech Support, they told me the same...RPM sensor. I found one locally for $15.00 and installed it, I figured what do I have to lose for $15. It didn't work.

I called them back, he had me jump it and it still didn't work. He seemed to think it is the motor.

I'm going to purchase a new unit.

      Thank you for your time.

        light blinks

Thanks for interpreting the light blinking code. Mine was blinking 5 times
after I replaced the drive gear. With the RPM sensor hint, I took it apart again and found that I had not reconnected the RPM sensor - problem solved thanks to google and the forum and you!
