  • My trees are dying???help

    Hello all,

I planted some flowering dogwood trees about 5 weeks ago and all of the sudden in the past few days the leaves are wilting and dried out. The trees are planted in very clay soil and I water 3 days a week with bubblers that fill up each basin around the trees. It has also been hot for the past few days. (95 degrees) I am not sure if I under watering, over watering or these trees just won't work in clay soil.
Any ideas of what trees grow well in clay soil, which I think tends to say pretty moist??
    Thanks for any help, Mike

from what I've seen on the home & garden TV clay type soil isn't the best. also when you planted the trees did you spread out the root ball? the roots need to take in water but if they're still "balled" up they won't. a mix of peat moss and potting soil should help with nutrients for the tree.
