  • Vibrates way too much

I have a Craftsman 4 cycle line trimmer. The model that you can switch out the ends for different attachments. I do use it for trimming branches with my pole trimming attachment, but that is besides the point. Lately, the problem of vibration on the trimming end seems to be getting worse. While moving around, it is fine, but when I lower the shaft and it contacts the weeds that I want to trim, that is when it starts to vibrate. What should I check for, or should I even bother taking it apart to look???

check the lower thrust bearing on the flexible shaft.

I dont know much about craftsman, (more about stihl and echo) but I would check the clutch, the peice between the motor and drive shaft.

      Hope that helps!

Well, I pulled out the parts manual for it and the only thing I see in the lower boom is a gearbox assembly. I assume that the bearing may be encased inside it, but I wanted to get your thoughts on it. Depending on the cost of this, I may just invest in another attachment....
