    Painting over vinyl wallpaper

Should vinyl wallpaper be primed before painting over it? Is there a certain type of paint that will work better than others?

    Thanks

Hello, Yes there are primers you can use. If you go to your local hardware store and read the labels of primers, they list the types of things they can be used on. I just did one and 1/2 walls in my home that I could not for the life of me remove the 30+ year old paper. I used Kils Premium. What you have to be careful of is sometimes after getting wet, the wallpaper will start to lift and leave bubbles. So I always suggest removing it if you can. If it bubbles, those bubbles will show when you paint. Good luck. Distinctive Scenes
