    Financing Home repair

I decided to use Foundation Repair of California to remedy my crawl space issues. They gave me a flyer with MoreHouse Finance info, including qr codes to prequalify and online application. It's supposedly a 0% 12 month loan. I generally don't click barcodes, and I don't like to fill endless forms on a cell phone.
I found their website which is a few paragraphs about the 'benefit' of financing home repairs. Nothing else.No opportunity to prequalify, apply, or anything. Seems really strange to me.
    Any clues about this?

Worth being cautious here — a few things you described are common red flags, though I can't tell you definitively whether this specific offer is legitimate (and I'd treat anything here as general caution, not financial advice):
    • A lending site that's just a few paragraphs of marketing with no actual application, account login, or licensing info is unusual for a real consumer lender. Legitimate financing companies almost always have a normal web application path, not just a QR code funnel from a specific contractor's flyer.
    • It's worth checking whether "MoreHouse Finance" shows up as a licensed lender with your state's financial regulator (in California, that's the DFPI's licensee search). Real lenders offering consumer loans are required to be licensed.
    • Also check the contractor's own license through the CSLB (California Contractors State License Board) and look for independent reviews — sometimes sketchy financing tie-ins travel with sketchy contractors, sometimes they don't, but it's worth checking both.
    • If a lender only wants you to interact via a QR code with no visible URL, that's also a common phishing pattern — if you do scan it, check that the resulting page's domain matches whatever "MoreHouse Finance's" real registered site is before entering anything.

I'd ask the contractor directly for a paper application or a link to the lender's actual website (typed in manually, not scanned) before providing any personal or financial info.
