  • workshop air compressor hose

i just bought a 30 gallon 7hp vertical air compressor for my workshop and was wondering what size hose i should get. I get the harbor frieght catalogue and they have goodyear 1/2" 50 hoses and 3/8" hoses...for a fairly good price...does it matter if one buys the 1/2" to insure enough air for whatever tools i may have to use at the other end????

    vincent,

All my hoses are 3/8" and I have never had a problem.

WHAT KIND OF TOOLS DO YOU RUN ON YOU COMPRESSOR AND WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO USE A 1/2" HOSE?

        Vincent,

I use both brad and framing nailers, air rachet, sander and small sand blaster.

I don't know the calculations but my logic says that ultimately the air is going to pass through the coupling on the tool which is the smallest diameter. If you are using the large conectors you may have a benifit from a 1/2" hose but all my connectors are the 1/4"NPT.

Maybe someone else can explain the benifits,

        Jim
