  • Gas fireplace not working. Pilot not staying lit.

Thank you. I'll give that a try. Replace the thermocouple that is.

you might want to test the output of any electrical parts before simply changing them out.
some of the fireplaces/stoves require specific replacement parts as drop out times vary and could load your appliance with gas.

This forum is to be used as a guide to servicing your own appliances.
Any problems you encounter without sufficient knowledge of the item could result in loss of life.
Your gas appliance isn't working because a safety device isn't working.
You point out that the pilot light doesn't stay lit when you release the button. This to me means that the electrical circuit that holds the gas pilot valve open isn't working i.e. thermocouple -or- the gas valve pilot assembly itself.
IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT IN YOUR MIND AS TO WHETHER YOU CAN RESOLVE THE ISSUE, GET A PROFESSIONAL GAS PERSON TO SERVICE YOUR APPLIANCE.

I was assuming it was the thermocouple but wanted to hear other thoughts as well.
