  • Bathroom Exhaust Vent - Soffit Mount

I just replaced a Bathroom Exhaust Vent - Soffit Mount and it seems not to be taking the steam out of the bathroom. I know it is hooked up correctly and now looking for suggestions on how to get better performance from my Bathroom Exhaust Vent?

    Thanks

Nature does not allow a vacuum, therefore and exhaust fan can only exhaust air at the rate the air can be re-supplied into the space.

Check the gap on the bottom of the bathroom door. In order to insure an adequate flow of makeup air into the bathroom while the fan is running the gap should be about 3/4 to 1 inch. If that is not practical some provision should be made to vent in fresh makeup air.

If it is a practice in your household to take long steamy showers you may also want to install a mechanical countdown timer that would keep the fan running an additional 10 or 15 minutes after you leave the room.
Timers are available that will mount in the same space as the present wall switch.
