  • Kenmore 106.59502992 "Start-Relay" Failure

The start relay(inside the start device) failed. I opened it, the PTC disc disintegrated.

My start device should be a Klixon 4SP1023. With Kenmore/Sears model number 2204307, they currently use 2261636 for replacement. But my overload switch inside the 4SP seems perfectly fine, so what I want to do is to find the matching Klixon 8EA start relay (to obtain the PTC disc) for replacement.

Anyone have ANY idea which start relay I can hunt for? I have seen Klixon start relay going for as cheap as $8 or $9, I much rather pay that than to order a brand new 4SP from Sears for like $65!!!

Thanks in advance for ANY info.

The 106 in the sears model number is indicating the appliance was manufactured by whirlpool corp.

Klixon overloads are common to almost all manufacturers and are readily available.

Rather than go through all the bother of ordering that part from sears take your defective klixon to a local appliance parts house and the will be able to match you an exact replacement for far less money..
