  • absorbing vibration of laundry machine

    Hi,

I have a laundry machine in the attic, in a 1920-build brick house with wooden interior.

When my modern washer reaches top speed, 1200 rpm, my whole house vibrates like a helicopter is landing on my roof.

I tried putting it on foam, installing a 1.25 inch thick, heavy wood plate under it to distribute the vibration, but nothing works.

Anybody know if there are any products on the market that will dampen the vibration?
Or anyone know any smart tricks?

    regards

The first point that should be addressed is to determine why the machine is causing that much excessive vibration?

Many washing machines have a "SNUBBER BEARING" on the top of the inner tub to reduce vibration. Often the snubber bearings become coated with soap film, the rubber bearing pads wears away or the tension arm is weak and it fails to properly stabilize the inner tub.

      Hi,

it's a front loader, forgot to mention that. Those are much more common than toploaders in Holland where I am located. Furthermore, the machine is brand new.

      greetings

How sturdy is the floor it is on?

Is it in the middle of the floor or close to an outside wall or near or over a load-bearing wall?

Is this a brand new machine or an older one?

Has it ever worked properly in that location?
