  • Window AC Installation..Problems

I have a window mounted air conditioner that I am trying to install in my shop. The problem is that my shop windows are side by side sliders. Do they make an installation kit to install window mounted AC's in side sliding windows.. My only other alternative to to make a wood filler for the upper part on the window..but I would prefer some sort on kit. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

What I've done in the past is to measure the space you need to fill, including the inside window flanges, then go to the hardware store and have a piece of plexiglass cut to these dimensions. Then using some double sided tape you can adhere the plexiglass to the inside flanges of the window on the sides and top. Then it's easily removed in the fall.

I've never seen such a thing available as a 'kit', you'll likely have to make something yourself. There are mounting support plates available (see the following link) but for the filler panel and how to secure it in the window will be up to you.

That is probably true but if there's anything of value in the shop and the A/C is mounted within reach of the ground, a more secure arrangement should probably be considered as window air conditioners are already a common entry point for burglars.
